Restriction in GSTR-3B

GSTN Advisory dated 27-01-2025

In a previous advisory, the GSTN had announced that the GST Portal would implement a hard lock, preventing edits to auto-populated tax liabilities in Form GSTR-3B, starting with the January 2025 tax period. Taxpayers were instructed to make necessary amendments through Form GSTR-1A ensuring alignment with outward supply data reported in Forms GSTR-1/1A/IFF.

However, following multiple requests from the trade community for more time to adjust, the GSTN has decided to defer the implementation of the hard lock. The restriction will no longer take effect in January 2025, and the GSTN has confirmed that the hard lock will be introduced at a later date, with advance notification to ensure a smooth transition. In the meantime, taxpayers are encouraged to begin preparing for the upcoming change.
