NFFRL Recognition for Food Testing

Instruction No. 04/2025-Customs, Dated 21-04-2025 

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has conveyed that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DFTQC), Nepal, has recognized the National Food & Feed Reference Laboratory (NFFRL), Kathmandu, Nepal, for testing food samples under the Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2011.

This recognition remains valid for the duration of NFFRL’s accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025 standards by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).

As a result, certificates issued by NFFRL for analysis of juice, jam, jelly, pickles, candies, ginger, fresh fruits and vegetables, and instant noodles shall be accepted by Indian authorities for import clearance.
