Introduction<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"146\" data-end=\"438\">The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued a notification introducing changes to the import policy of certain items classified under Chapter 71 of the ITC (HS) 2022 of Schedule-I (Import Policy). This update is aimed at regulating the import of specific precious metal alloys.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"445\" data-end=\"497\">2. Import Policy Status for Select ITC(HS) Codes<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"499\" data-end=\"599\">The import policy for the following ITC(HS) codes continues to remain under the <strong data-start=\"579\" data-end=\"589\">\u2018Free\u2019<\/strong> category:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"692\"><strong data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"615\">71102100<\/strong> \u2013 Base metals, clad with silver, not further worked than semi-manufactured<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"747\"><strong data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"707\">71102900<\/strong> \u2013 Other base metals, clad with silver<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"837\"><strong data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"762\">71103100<\/strong> \u2013 Base metals, clad with gold, not further worked than semi-manufactured<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"890\"><strong data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"852\">71103900<\/strong> \u2013 Other base metals, clad with gold<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"984\"><strong data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"905\">71104100<\/strong> \u2013 Base metals, clad with platinum, not further worked than semi-manufactured<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1041\"><strong data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"999\">71104900<\/strong> \u2013 Other base metals, clad with platinum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1043\" data-end=\"1186\">These items can be imported without any prior license or restriction, subject to compliance with standard documentation and customs procedures.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1281\">3. Import of Gold-Containing Palladium, Rhodium, and Iridium Alloys Now \u2018Restricted\u2019<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1503\">While the general import status remains unchanged for the above ITC(HS) codes, the DGFT has <strong data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1503\">specifically restricted the import of alloys of Palladium, Rhodium, and Iridium that contain more than 1% by weight of gold.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1507\" data-end=\"1570\">Such imports will now fall under the <strong data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1560\">\u2018Restricted\u2019<\/strong> category.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1699\">Importers will need to <strong data-start=\"1596\" data-end=\"1642\">obtain a license or specific authorisation<\/strong> from DGFT before importing these gold-containing alloys.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1702\" data-end=\"1850\">This measure is likely introduced to <strong data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"1816\">strengthen gold import monitoring and prevent misuse or misclassification<\/strong> under the guise of alloy imports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Notification No. 18\/2025-26, Dated 17-06-2025 1.
