The gold jewellery was detained by customs authorities on the ground that it was imported as baggage. The petitioner submitted that the gold chain was part of personal effects and that the Baggage Rules, 2016 have limited application to foreign nationals. It was contended that such detention was not sustainable in law. The matter was accordingly placed before the Delhi High Court.<\/p>\n<h2><em>High Court Held<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>The Delhi High Court held that gold jewellery worn by a passenger who is a foreign national is part of personal effects, and that the Baggage Rules, 2016 have limited application to foreign nationals.
