DIN was introduced to ensure transparency and traceability in tax administration, and the new clarification adapts its use to align with digital workflows under eOffice.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"552\">2. Online Verification Utility<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"553\" data-end=\"1043\">To strengthen authenticity, the CBIC has developed an online verification utility accessible at <strong data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"687\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/verifydocument.cbic.gov.in\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"651\" data-end=\"685\">https:\/\/verifydocument.cbic.gov.in<\/a><\/strong>. This platform enables recipients to confirm the genuineness of eOffice communications by entering the system-generated <strong data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"834\">unique \u2018Issue number.\u2019<\/strong> The utility provides key details such as the file number, date of issue, type of communication, issuing office, and masked recipient information, thereby assuring stakeholders of the integrity of documents.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1089\">3. Role of Officers and Metadata Accuracy<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1517\">The circular emphasizes that officers generating communications in eOffice must <strong data-start=\"1170\" data-end=\"1219\">carefully and accurately fill in the metadata<\/strong> fields when creating documents. The accuracy of these details is critical, as they directly impact the ability of the verification utility to display authentic information. Proper use of metadata will ensure that the documents issued are verifiable, tamper-proof, and trustworthy for recipients.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1519\" data-end=\"1573\">4. DIN Requirement for Public Option Communications<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"2039\">For communications dispatched using the <strong data-start=\"1614\" data-end=\"1642\">public option in eOffice<\/strong>, the system-generated \u2018Issue number\u2019 will now be deemed to be the <strong data-start=\"1709\" data-end=\"1716\">DIN<\/strong>. This eliminates the need to generate or quote a separate DIN for such communications, simplifying compliance for officers and reducing duplication of work. However, the circular clarifies that for <strong data-start=\"1915\" data-end=\"1974\">all other communications not sent via the public option<\/strong>, the DIN requirement will continue to apply without exception.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2041\" data-end=\"2057\">5.
