Notification No. 43\/2025-26<\/a>, Dated 15-10-2025<\/p>\n

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)<\/strong> has issued a notification revising the import policy and policy conditions<\/strong> applicable to Areca Nuts<\/strong> under the ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule-I (Import Policy)<\/strong>. The amendments affect Areca Nuts classified under ITC (HS) Codes 08028090<\/strong> and 20081991<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

1. Revised Import Policy for Areca Nuts (ITC (HS) Code 08028090)<\/h2>\n

As per the amended provisions:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Import of Areca Nuts<\/strong> with a CIF value below \u20b9351 per kilogram<\/strong> is prohibited<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • Import of Areca Nuts<\/strong> with a CIF value of \u20b9351 or above per kilogram<\/strong> is freely allowed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This measure aims to protect domestic producers by discouraging low-value imports and ensuring fair market competition.<\/p>\n

    2. Revised Policy for Roasted Areca Nuts (ITC (HS) Code 20081991)<\/h2>\n

    The DGFT has also modified the policy for Roasted Areca Nuts<\/strong>, stipulating that:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Import of Roasted Areca Nuts<\/strong> is prohibited<\/strong> if the CIF value is below \u20b9351 per kilogram<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Import of all other roasted nuts and seeds<\/strong>, however, continues to be freely permitted<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      3. Exemptions from Minimum Import Price (MIP) Condition<\/h2>\n

      The minimum import price (MIP) condition<\/strong> of \u20b9351 per kilogram will not apply<\/strong> to imports made by the following categories:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • 100% Export Oriented Units (EOUs),<\/li>\n
      • Units located in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and<\/li>\n
      • Imports under the Advance Authorization Scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        These exemptions are intended to facilitate export-linked manufacturing and maintain the competitiveness of SEZ and EOU operations.<\/p>\n

        4. Objective of the Amendment<\/h2>\n
