The Central Government has amended Notification No. 45\/2025-Customs dated 24-10-2025<\/strong>, increasing customs duty on specified imports of gold, silver, and other precious metal items<\/strong> covered under Chapter 71<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

1. Increase in Customs Duty<\/span><\/h2>\n
    \n
  • Customs duty has been revised from 5% to 10%<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Applicable to entries covered under:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    1. \n
        \n
      1. S. Nos. 192, 193, 194, 195, 196, 197, and 203<\/strong><\/li>\n
      2. In Table I<\/strong> of the notification<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        2. Insertion of New Entry \u2013 S. No. 200A<\/span><\/h2>\n

        A new entry has been inserted for:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • \u201cSpent catalyst or ash containing precious metals\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n
        • Falling under CTH 7112<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Duty Rate<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
            \n
          • Customs duty prescribed at 10%<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Validity<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
              \n
            • Applicable up to 31 March 2027<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              3. Substitution of S. No. 202<\/span><\/h2>\n
                \n
              • S. No. 202 has been substituted to prescribe 10% customs duty<\/strong><\/li>\n
              • Applicable to specified tariff items<\/li>\n
              • Excluding goods covered under newly inserted S. No. 200A<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                4. Effective Date<\/span><\/h2>\n
                  \n
                • The revised provisions shall come into force from 13 May 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  5. Objective of the Amendment<\/span><\/h2>\n

                  The notification aims to:<\/p>\n

                  • Rationalise customs duty structure on precious metals and related products<\/li>\n
                  • Align tariff treatment across specified Chapter 71 items<\/li>\n
                  • Strengthen revenue and trade policy measures relating to precious metal imports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
