Notification No. 49/2025- Customs, Dated 28-11-2025

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified an important amendment to the Project Imports Regulations, 1986, introducing a new entry at Serial No. 3FF specifically for “Jaipur Metro Projects.”

1. New Entry Introduced Under Project Imports Scheme

A fresh category has been added to the list of eligible projects under the concessional Project Imports framework.

  • Serial Number  3FF
  • Project Category  Jaipur Metro Projects
  • Designated Authority  Managing Director or Director (Project), Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL)

This means that RMRCL officials are now officially empowered to certify and process applications relating to imports required for the Jaipur Metro.

2. Benefit Under the Project Imports Scheme

With this inclusion, goods imported for the Jaipur Metro development—such as machinery, components, rolling stock, signalling equipment, and associated infrastructure items—can now avail concessional customs duty treatment under the Project Import mechanism.

This scheme is aimed at:

  • Reducing costs for large infrastructure projects
  • Streamlining import approvals
  • Facilitating timely execution of metro development work

3. Effective Date of the Amendment

The amendment comes into force from 29 November 2025.

All eligible imports made on or after this date can be processed under the revised regulations.
