CBIC Designates Authorised Officer for Food Imports at Kannur Airport

Instruction No. 31/2025-Customs, Dated 03-11-2025

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a fresh instruction concerning the designation of Authorised Officers under Section 25 read with Section 47(5) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and Regulation 13(1) of the FSS (Import) Regulations, 2017.

1. New Point of Entry Notified

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), vide Notification dated 29-10-2025, has notified an additional Point of Entry for food imports at the:

  • Air Cargo Complex, Kannur International Airport, Kerala
  • Port Code INCNN4

At this location, the Superintendent/Appraiser/Inspector/Examiner will act as the Authorised Officer responsible for food import clearance.

2. Updated Master List of Entry Points

An updated list containing 166 Points of Entry along with the details of notified Authorised Officers has been circulated as Annexure-A for departmental reference and operational compliance.

3. Compliance and Administrative Instructions

  • Jurisdictional formations have been directed to sensitise officers and ensure necessary arrangements for smooth implementation.
  • Instruction No. 25/2025-Customs, dated 06-08-2025, stands modified to this extent.
