Tariff Values for Imported Goods

Notification No. 59/2026-Customs (N.T.), Dated 29-06-2026

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a notification amending Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated 03-08-2001, to revise the tariff values applicable to specified imported goods.

The amendment substitutesΒ Tables 1, 2, and 3 of the principal notification and prescribes updated tariff values for goods such as edible oils, brass scrap, gold, silver,Β and areca nuts.

1. Substitution of Tariff Value Tables

CBIC has substituted the existing tariff value tables under Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.).

The revised tables specify updated tariff values for various imported goods for the purpose of customs assessment.

2. Goods Covered Under the Revised Tariff Values

The revised tariff values apply to specified imported goods, including:

  • Edible oils;
  • Brass scrap;
  • Gold;
  • Silver; and
  • Areca nuts.

These goods are subject to tariff value-based assessment as notified by CBIC from time to time.

3. Updated Reference for Gold and Silver Imports

The amendment also updates the notification reference applicable to specified imports of gold and silver availing the benefit of Notification No. 45/2025-Customs, dated 24-10-2025.

This ensures that the tariff value notification aligns with the applicable customs exemption notification.

4. Tariff Values Prescribed

The amended notification prescribes tariff values ranging from US$ 1,232 to US$ 10,785 for the specified goods.

These values will be used for determining the assessable value of the notified imported goods for customs duty purposes.

5. Effective Date

The substituted tariff value tables shall come into effect from 30-06-2026.

Accordingly, imports of the specified goods on or after this date will be governed by the revised tariff values.

6. Objective of the Notification

The notification seeks to:

  • Update tariff values for specified imported goods;
  • Align tariff value references with applicable customs notifications;
  • Ensure uniform valuation of notified imports;
  • Provide clarity for importers and customs authorities; and
