Public Notice No. 05/2025-26, Dated 06-05-2025

1. Background

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has reinstated and amended the Standard Input Output Norm (SION) No. C-888, which governs the input-output ratio for the export of circular stainless-steel washers. This move comes through a Public Notice issued by DGFT, restoring a norm that had previously been suspended.

2. Scope of the Revised SION

The reinstated and amended SION C-888 now applies to the export of small and large-size circular stainless-steel washers of various grades, with an output quantity fixed at 1.0 kg.

In relation to this export item, the following inputs are now permitted for import –

  • Prime or Secondary Stainless Steel in the form of –

    1. Sheets
    2. Sheet cuttings
    3. Coils
    4. Strips
    5. Plates

The inputs must be of relevant grade and thickness, and the revised permissible input quantity is 1.60 kg.

3. Effect of the Public Notice

  • Restoration of SION C-888 – This SION, which was earlier suspended via Public Notice No. 56 dated 14-01-2020, has now been reactivated and updated.
  • Operational Clarity for Exporters – Exporters can now utilise the revised norms while planning imports under Advance Authorisation for manufacturing stainless-steel washers meant for export.

4. Conclusion

This amendment aims to facilitate exporters of stainless-steel washers by providing a clear and updated input-output framework under the Advance Authorisation scheme. Businesses engaged in the export of such items should take note of the revised input ratio and updated import eligibility to ensure smooth and compliant operations.
