Export of essential commodities

Notification No. 1 /2025-26, Dated 01-04-2025

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued a notification, amending Section (L) of the ‘General Note to Export Policy.’ The notification permits the export of essential commodities—Eggs, Potatoes, Onions, Rice, Wheat Flour, Sugar, Dal, Stone Aggregate, and River Sand—to the Republic of Maldives under the bilateral trade agreement for the financial year 2025-26, subject to the quantity limits prescribed therein. These exports shall remain exempt from any existing or future restrictions or prohibitions for the said specified period.

Exports of commodities classified as prohibited or restricted shall be allowed only through the six designated Customs Stations specified in the notification. Further, the export of River Sand and Stone Aggregate shall be subject to environmental clearances from CAPEXIL and No Objection Certificates from the relevant State authorities, ensuring compliance with Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and applicable State laws or judicial directives.
