Customs Notification 31/2025

Customs Notification No. 31/2025-Customs, Dated 30-05-2025

In the public interest, the Government has issued amendments to two key Customs Notifications—Notification No. 50/2017-Customs and Notification No. 64/2023-Customs—introducing changes to Basic Customs Duty (BCD) rates and the validity of exemptions.

1. Revision of BCD Rates Under Notification No. 50/2017-Customs

The basic customs duty for specified goods has been revised to 10% under Sl. Nos. 57, 61, and 70 of the table annexed to Notification No. 50/2017-Customs. This revision is intended to rationalise the duty structure and ensure parity across relevant product categories.

2. Extension of Exemption Validity Under Notification No. 64/2023-Customs

The validity of the customs exemption provided under Sl. No. 1 of Notification No. 64/2023-Customs has been extended from 31st May 2025 to 31st March 2026. This extension provides continued relief to eligible importers and supports longer-term planning for projects relying on such exemptions.

3. Effective Implementation

Both changes are notified with immediate effect, reinforcing the government’s intent to balance revenue considerations with trade facilitation and sectoral support.
