GSTN Advisory, Dated 17-07-2025
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) System is set to introduce a new email and SMS notification service aimed at enhancing transparency in data access permissions. This initiative ensures that taxpayers are promptly informed whenever an Application Suvidha Provider (ASP) successfully obtains their OTP-based consent to access GST data via APIs.
1. Details Included in the Alerts
The notifications will be sent to the authorised signatory of the concerned taxpayer and will include the following information:
- Name of the ASP accessing the data
- Name of the underlying GST Suvidha Provider (GSP)
- Date and time when the OTP consent was granted
- Validity period of the consent
These alerts will enable taxpayers to stay informed about who is accessing their GST-related data and under what authority.
2. Enhancements to the GST Common Portal
In addition to the notification feature, the GST Common Portal will be enhanced to provide better visibility and control over ASP/GSP data access. Taxpayers will be able to:
- View current and historical access granted to ASPs and GSPs
- Monitor consent activity, including validity and expiry
- Revoke any active consent through the portal interface
These updates will empower taxpayers to manage and audit third-party access to their GST data more effectively.
3. Release Timeline and Advisory Updates
The launch dates for these features will be officially announced through GST advisories in due course. Taxpayers are encouraged to stay updated via the GST Portal to make timely use of these enhancements.
