SCOMET Classification

Instruction No. 03/2025-Customs, Dated 03-04-2025

The CBIC has issued Instruction No. 03/2025 – Customs, dated 03-04-2025. This instruction addresses the applicability of the Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment and Technologies (SCOMET) list on Polyethylene Glycol (CAS No. 25322-68-3) and clarifies its export policy.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued a memorandum dated March 27, 2025, confirming that Polyethylene Glycol (CAS No. 25322-68-3) does not fall under the SCOMET list according to the existing export policy. As a result, no SCOMET export authorization is required for its export.

The CBIC has requested that all officers within its jurisdiction be sensitized to this update and ensure strict compliance with the clarified export policy regarding Polyethylene Glycol.
