Revised Tariff Values

Notification No. 34/2025–CUSTOMS (N.T.), Dated 15-05-2025

The Central Government has notified revised tariff values for certain imported goods by substituting TABLE-1, TABLE-2, and TABLE-3 of the existing Notification No. 36/2001–Customs (N.T.) dated 03-08-2001. This revision comes into effect uniformly across India from May 16, 2025.

1. Scope of Revision

The updated tariff values apply to goods falling under specific tariff headings and include:

  • Edible Oils:

    • Crude Palm Oil
    • RBD Palm Oil
    • RBD Palmolein
    • Crude Soya Bean Oil
    • Others as specified
  • Scrap Metals:

    • Brass Scrap

  • Precious Metals:

    • Gold
    • Silver
  • Agricultural Commodities:

    • Areca Nuts

These values serve as reference benchmarks for calculating customs duty liabilities on imports of such goods.

2. Purpose and Applicability

The revised tariff values have been notified under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, and are intended to:

  • Ensure consistency in import assessments
  • Prevent under-invoicing or manipulation of import prices
  • Facilitate uniform application of customs duty rates

These values are binding for customs assessment purposes starting May 16, 2025, and must be used by importers and customs officers alike.

3. Conclusion

Importers dealing in edible oils, scrap metals, precious metals, and areca nuts should refer to the revised notification for updated tariff values and ensure compliance during customs clearance from the effective date. This move is part of the government’s ongoing effort to maintain transparency and uniformity in customs assessments.
